Point Nemo-Pacific Ocean
At the point Nemo, beneath the Pacific Ocean, the area between New Zealand and South America lying farthest away from the land area, is a mass grave. The grave so found contains hundreds of remains and debris of living creatures.
The hot and humid weather of the ocean shatters the living body into many pieces. These living creatures that are most reportedly found inside are satellites, rockets, space stations, and spacecraft. These ran out of fuel or faced other circumstances that caused them to dump into the water.
Hazards faced by other spacecraft
Ever thought, what are the hazards that any satellite can face?
If a satellite is left in an orbital motion after being launched into space, then this would certainly pose a hazard to the future launches made in space. To prevent such hazards and collisions, many spacecraft are sent down to the Pacific Ocean at the Nemo Point since 1971.
Countries have learned over the years that when they create debris, it presents a risk to their own systems just as it does for everybody else,
Aerospace Engineer, Bill Ailor
He continued,
We’ve figured out that this debris can stay up there for hundreds of years.
Why ISS is in danger condition?
Reports from the Popular Science claims that when smaller spacecraft enters the Earth’s Atmosphere, it may burn or destroy. For this reason, space-crafts such as Russia’s MIR was brought down carefully without encountering any other satellite so that they don’t crash into one another. The International Space Station, ISS, will face the same hazard.
The problem is that when the departed spacecraft lands, it ends up being part of almost 300 other spacecraft which are laid down at Point Nemo, piling up at the ocean’s floor.
